Hello, how are you doing today? Are you depressed?
In case you didn’t know, there are seven types of depressive disorders. So, lets get to them!
- Major Depressive Disorder
- Dysthymic or Dysthymia Disorder
- Bipolar depression or Disorder
- Postpartum Depression
- Seasonal Affective Disorder
- Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder
- Atypical Depression
When i say the terms depression or even clinical depression , I am referring to major depressive disorder. Major depressive disorder is a mood disorder which can leave you feeling depressed, down and out (this is the type of depression i suffered from). Interest i normally enjoyed fell to the back burner. I was getting about zero hours of sleep a night max at the worst end.
It was hard for me to concentrate and thoughts of killing myself ran across my head on a daily (this is extremely hard for me to talk about). A lot of these symptoms lasted longer than 2 weeks or more for me, so i was automatically diagnosed with major depressive disorder.
To sum it up, Dysthymia means ill or bad emotions or thoughts. The terms dysthymia and dysthymic disorder is attached to a moderated state of depression.
If you suffer from bipolar disorder , there will be periods of elevated moods, called manic episodes or attacks, followed by depression. The wild thing is, the mood swings can run on a “high to low” level from mild mania to more severe highs. Sometimes the mania events can last for hours.. maybe days.. or maybe weeks.. or maybe even months before the gloomy cloud of depression returns. Let me ask you a question.. DO YOU HAVE BIPOLAR DISORDER ?
FACT: Being pregnant will bring about many hormonal shifts for females and cause postpartum depression. These shifts sometimes will affect your mood.
Do you experience depression, sleepless nights, out of control weight gain and cravings for bad foods during cold months. But feel great as soon as the summer months return, there’s a chance you might have a condition called Seasonal Affective Disorder or (SAD).
The most common depression symptoms of premenstrual syndrome or (PMS) include..

Let me ask you a simple question.. DO YOU HAVE PMDD?
Quick question- Do you have a enhanced mood when great things happen in your life? Signs of depression include..

* Not able to handle rejection.
These are symptoms of a typical depression. This type of depression is confusing to me because it doesn’t follow the normal set of depression symptoms such as a loss of appetite. Believe it or not, this is a very common form or depression and if you answered at least 2 out of the 3 questions i asked you with a yes, you should notify your doctor today!
