I’m suspecting I might have it.

1 minute is not adequate enough to describe it. Suicidal thoughts are constant threat as well. WebMD also has more details than this video.

me too, I need to go to a good psychiatric, I feel sad, bored and a piece of shit all the day long…I think always to the same things, I’m ugly, i don’t have a future, I’m stupid, my life will all be this way and I always will be alone and unhappy desiring to be someone else..sometimes at home I cry and think how would I be with another face or another brain…srry for this

This video is not adequate – and she clearly doesn’t have a clue what she is talking about as she keeps having to refer to notes on her lap! This is not helpful for those seeking advice.

This sounds like me but I agree that the video is quite superficial Always had a pervasive sense of gloom and doom.Hereditary factors in play I’m sure. Tend to binge drink to escape the bad feelings but they always come back and usually worse.I do go to the gym quite regularly which is somewhat of a distraction. I’m on a disability so I have “too much time on m y hands”. Used to work as a lawyer but that fell apart.Don’t think I was any good at it anyway.Trying various self help groups.Itspainfl

I´ve been depressed and miserable for three years now, the worst part was that I knew that something was wrong with me, but not what it was.
Last month I discovered dysthymia on the internet. Most symptoms fit with me, so I strongly suspect that I suffer from this disorder.
Think I´ll go and have myself checked sometime soon, in my last major depression I nearly comitted a suicide attempt.
ElFrankus says
I have Dysthymia. I began taking L-DOPA two weeks ago. I feel GREAATT – My Dysthimia is in remission. I think Sinemet is better for Dysthymia than Prozac. It is not a Serotonin problem, it is a Dopamine problem. If you have depressive symptoms do not ignore them, act right away. It is not your personality, it is the brain, malfunctioning. For those out there suspecting Dysthymia; don´t suspect anymore, act, don´t delay.

this is EXCATLY how i feel it started about the age of 10 and has never stopped since there really is no way out. 🙁
luu69 says
That was 8 months ago, how are you doing now?
Razukin says
It has been 8 hard months. The depressions have come and gone every month. During the most hectic period I was depressed a few days each week.
This has really changed me into a worse person to be honest. But just recently I´ve started to fight against the depressions, and it´s looking brighter now =)
Thanks for caring

I’ve been depressed for a good 2.5 years . . . and if anything it just gets worse, or you get used to it
HijabulousTV says
Wow that REALLY cleared it up for me. I was wandering if I was more on the bipolar side, cuz I was never depressed ALL the time, but in cycles, just like you said! It makes sense now. Thank you.
TheyFeedingULies says
@ElFrankus Thanks, is this advice coming from the maker of L-DOPA? You sound like a saleman.

I’ve had dysthymia all this time and I didn’t know it. I kept having depressions just like that for 4 years now . I just discovered dythymia a few days ago on the internet . I started searching because lately my depressions got worse and the symptoms simply fit me. I feel sad like a week or 2 then everything is fine again and then i suddenly start feeling sad again and so on…
TheMrsShel says
When I was a teen, my doctor told my parents he thought that I was depressed. I remember thinking that I wasn’t going to let myself be depressed and so I started working out more often and felt better. In college I was in a very bad car accident (I am lucky to be here) and was in Physical Therapy for a number of years after. Feelings of depression came back stronger than before. By the end of college, I decided it was time to seek help. I went in a study and was told that I had Dysthymia.
